Norway has some of the world`s best and most stable wind resources, waters ideally suited especially for floating offshore wind and a leading industry with extensive knowledge and experience within maritime- and offshore operations. This puts Norway in a unique position in a rapidly growing offshore wind market.
The Norwegian government has opened two areas for the development of offshore wind – Utsira Nord and Sørlige Nordsjø II. At the same time the government is identifying new possible areas that are suitable for renewable energy production. The overall target is to open up areas for offshore wind power production that will generate 30 GW of power in Norway by 2040.
Deep Wind Offshore sees great potential in the Norwegian offshore wind market and has established a joint venture with the leading French energy company EDF Renewables for projects in Norway. The partnership will submit an application to the Norwegian authorities for the development of a commercial-scale offshore wind farm in the opened area, Utsira Nord.
